Day 1 - Arrive and explore St Moritz

Fly from the UK to Zurich airport, then enjoy a scenic rail journey of approximately 3 hours 30 minutes to St Moritz. Sit back and relax as Alpine landscapes unfold along the way.

Check in to your hotel and enjoy your first look around St. Moritz, a beautiful, elegant town with historic charm. At the centre of this famous town is the main street, Via Serlas often referred to as the ‘Rodeo Drive of the Alps’ lined with high end fashion houses, designer boutiques alongside artisan shops and chic cafés. Wander round this beautiful town and marvel at the old Swiss style buildings with carved woodwork and painted facades. At the side of these shops are walkways with glimpses of the stunning Lake Moritz. Evenings are lively yet refined with a choice of gourmet dining and chic cocktail bars.

Day 2 - Time to explore beyond St Moritz

St. Moritz is an exceptional base from which to explore the Engadin Valley, a region of hidden historic towns, breathtaking Alpine landscapes and crystal-clear lakes. Whether you prefer to stroll at your own pace or travel in comfort using the superb public transport network of trains, cable cars, funiculars and PostBus connections, the region unfolds effortlessly at your doorstep. Your hotel will provide a complimentary Engadin Inclusive Card, giving free travel on the cable cars and mountain railways as well as the local buses and trains.

Don’t forget your camera! A suggested journey to Corvatsch takes less than 50 minutes. Travel by bus to Silvaplana then enjoy a scenic 30 minute walk to Surlej or opt for the short cable car ride. This charming village sits at the foot of the mountain and offers a selection of stylish cafés and restaurants for refreshments. From Surlej, ascend by cable car to Murtèl, before continuing to the Corvatsch summit station. A short walk leads to the summit at 3,303 metres above sea level, where sweeping views open across the Upper Engadin lakes and the dramatic Bernina Range.

At the summit, linger at the renowned 3303 restaurant - dine outdoors in fine weather or enjoy a leisurely lunch indoors, surrounded by one of the most spectacular Alpine panoramas in Switzerland.

Day 3 - Scenic train to Tirano

Follow the famous and spectacular Bernina Line, setting off from St. Moritz station and travelling toward Tirano on one of Europe’s most scenic rail journeys. Along the way, pass through charming towns such as Pontresina, with its traditional Engadin houses and elegant Belle Époque buildings.

Marvel at the Morteratsch Glacier and the dramatic Bernina Diavolezza, where snow-capped peaks dominate the skyline, as the train climbs steadily to the highest point on the line - Ospizio Bernina, at 2,253 metres above sea level. From here, the route skirts the vast Lago Bianco reservoir before beginning its descent into the Southern Alps.

As you enter Valposchiavo, the landscape changes dramatically, culminating in the famous Brusio Circular Viaduct. This remarkable feat of Swiss railway engineering features a full 360 degree curve, allowing the train to lose height in a spectacular fashion as it winds down into the valley.

Crossing the Italian border, you'll soon arrive in Tirano, a small historic town with charming narrow streets to explore. Visit the Palazzo Salis Museum, renowned for its 17th and 18th century frescoes and paintings or simply wander at leisure and enjoy a meal in one of the many local restaurants before heading back to St. Moritz arriving early evening.

Day 4 - Explore local villages or shop 'til you drop

There is still so much more to explore in the Graubünden region, home to countless tranquil villages and historic towns, all easily accessible by short train journeys. Why not take a scenic ride to Zuoz, often described as one of the most picturesque mountain villages in the Upper Engadin. Renowned for its beautifully preserved historic centre and vibrant Rumantsch culture, Zuoz invites you to step back in time. Why not join a guided tour to learn about the village’s rich history, or simply wander at your own pace through cobblestone streets, past historic churches and ornate patrician houses with distinctive bay windows and intricately etched façades - a perfect setting for memorable photographs.

After a couple of hours, hop back on the train for just one stop to Samedan. Stroll through its narrow lanes and open squares, where colourful buildings showcase classic Engadin architecture. Feeling hungry? Take a short bus ride to Punt Muragl, then enjoy a ride on the funicular up to 2,456 metres above sea level. Here, you can enjoy a lunch at the panorama restaurant of the Romantik Hotel, where sweeping views of the Engadin unfold beneath you - the perfect finale before returning to the glitz and glamour of St. Moritz. Of course, you could always just shop till you drop in St Moritz, famed for its luxurious high end shops and enjoy a spa afternoon in one of the many hotels within the area.

Day 5 - Last day in unforgettable Switzerland

After your time in St. Moritz, sit back and enjoy a leisurely train journey back to the airport, watching the alpine scenery roll by as you dream about where in Switzerland you’ll explore next.
