These resorts may be less well known but come highly recommended for a Swiss holiday. They are all bursting with history. Chur is Switzerland’s oldest city, while Brig was an important trading point on the Simplon route across the Alps. Chur and Brig are both situated on the Glacier Express route, with the famous train connecting them in 4½ hours. The Eastern Switzerland resorts have charming centuries-old buildings and traditions, with St. Gallen boasting a World Heritage Site Abbey.
