Holidays To St. Moritz - Graubünden

Glamorous resort known for its stunning alpine scenery

Here you will find a wonderful blend of nature with chic modern amenities. The elegant shops and restaurants of the town of St. Moritz are beautifully situated in a landscape of lakes and the stunning high Alps. Lying in the sheltered Upper Engadin valley, on the southern side of the Alps, the town also claims that on average the sun shines 322 days a year - could there be a more perfect place to visit?

St. Moritz originally gained popularity as a mineral spa town and then as the first winter alpine resort around 150 years ago. It has a fascinating cultural heritage, with Romansch as its official main language, famous visitors such as Nietzsche and Wagner, a recognisable style of Engadin architecture and the famous Engadin nut tart on offer! There's lakes and mountains perfection here with several crystal clear lakes and stunning mountains to visit such as Corviglia, Piz Nair and Corvatsch. The town has excellent transport links - both to the mountains via cable cars and funiculars and further afield on scenic rail journeys such as the Bernina Express. Hotel guests benefit from the FREE Engadin Inclusive Card during the summer months, allowing you to fully explore the local mountains.

NB For those who would prefer a stay in a quieter village with access to all the amenities and transport network of St. Moritz, we recommend nearby Pontresina.

What to see and do from St. Moritz

St. Moritz is well located in the heart of the Engadin region, with a vast array of mountain visits to enjoy. Please click here for a summary of the best the region has to offer.

A funicular leaves the centre of town for Corviglia at 2,486m, where a cable car takes you up higher to Piz Nair. Both beauty spots have scenic walks and restaurants with sun terraces. You could take the bus to glistening Lake Silvaplana and then the Corvatsch cable car which glides over the forested, rocky slopes up to the summit and offers an awe-inspiring view over the high Alps. Excellent walking is to be had at both Alp Languard and Diavolezza, the latter offering more challenging terrain.

Your journeys into the mountains are free during the summer months, thanks to the Engadin Inclusive Card.

We can recommend a multi centre UNESCO themed holiday, taking in the Jungfrau-Aletsch Glacier from two aspects and enjoying the Rhaetian Railway, courtesy of the Glacier Express. You'll stay in Interlaken, Brig and St. Moritz. Please ask us for details.
