Day 1 - Saturday: Arrival in Wengen

Fly from the UK and then travel by rail from Zurich or Geneva airport to Wengen, set high above the Lauterbrunnen Valley on a sunny alpine plateau. It’s the perfect base for exploring the idyllic Jungfrau region and you’ll stay at the 4 star Hotel Silberhorn. Before dinner, there’s an opportunity to meet your local guide and learn about the plans for the week.

Day 2 - Sunday: Wengen, Wengwald and Hublen

A gentle village walk introduces Wengen’s chalet-lined streets before you take the forest path leading to Hublen for a packed lunch picnic with sensational views down the Lauterbrunnen Valley. Continue to Allmend for more alpine views before returning to the village. Dinner at the hotel.

Easy hike: 2–3 hours, approximately 200m ascent

Day 3 - Monday: Kleine Scheidegg to Männlichen Panoramaweg

Enjoy this favourite panoramic trail with the glorious Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau mountains dominating the skyline. A packed lunch is included while you take in the stunning views. The route can be adapted using train, cable car or optional walking sections. Dinner at the hotel.

Easy walk: 1½–2 hours, slight ascent. Optional walking descent to Wengen adds around 2 hours

Day 4 - Tuesday: Free day with your Jungfrau Travel Pass

Use your Jungfrau Travel Pass to explore the region by train, cable car or boat; your guide can suggest the best excursions for the weather. You might like to visit Interlaken for a scenic lake cruise and Harder Kulm where you can enjoy a drink with a splendid view over the lakes. Dinner is at the hotel.

Day 5 - Wednesday: Leiterhorn and farm brunch at Spätenalp

Climb steadily from Wengen towards the Leiterhorn and on to Spätenalp, one of the area’s last family-owned farms. The Rubin family will share their alpine farming traditions with you before offering a hearty farm brunch. You then have a scenic descent back to the village via Innerwengen. Dinner at the hotel.

Moderate hike: approximately 1½ hours to Spätenalp with a 300m ascent. Around 2 hours return, mainly downhill.

Day 6 - Thursday: Schynige Platte to the First mountain

A spectacular high-level traverse links Schynige Platte and First, passing alpine meadows, ridges, and the beautiful Bachalp lake with far-reaching views across the Jungfrau massif. This is a long, rewarding mountain day and may be adapted by your guide if conditions or group ability require. Packed lunch included; dinner at the hotel.

Challenging hike: approximately 6–8 hours with around a 700–860m gradual ascent. Suitable only in good weather and for confident hikers.

Day 7 - Friday: Lauterbrunnen Valley, Mürren and cheese cellar

Walk down to picturesque Lauterbrunnen and take the cable car to Grütschalp to follow the scenic trail towards Mürren. After a packed lunch, continue via Gimmelwald and Stechelberg. You’ll stop at a local cheese cellar for a tasting and a schnapps, then finish with a traditional fondue in the forest above Wengen.

Easy hike: 3–4 hours total, with little climbing.

Day 8 - Saturday: Last day in Switzerland

Time for a last coffee in the village, then return by rail to the airport for your journey home.
