Morges is a picturesque lakeside town in Switzerland, ideally located just 40 minutes by train from Geneva airport and close to Lausanne and Montreux - making it a perfect base for a weekend getaway or a longer stay beside the lake to explore the whole area.
With its wide choice of restaurants, cafés, and bars, this is a welcoming spot to relax and enjoy the local cuisine. The town offers a range of things to do including scenic walks from gentle strolls to the Morges vineyards (1-4 miles) to a beautiful 4-mile castle-to-castle route. Nature lovers will enjoy the Parc de l’Indépendance, which is particularly stunning during the Tulip Festival (late March to mid-May) when more than 100,000 flowers adorn the park. From May to June the gardens of Vullierens Castle display a fabulous collection of irises and lilies, and from July to October it's the turn of the Dahlia Festival when over 2,000 dahlias of a beautiful array of shapes and colours line the lakeside promenade.
From the Lake Geneva promenade you can enjoy breath-taking views of Mont Blanc on clear days. Morges is also rich in culture and history, with its lakeside castle, engaging museums, and vibrant markets. Audrey Hepburn lived for many years in a nearby village: follow in her footsteps from Morges’ town hall, where she got married in 1969, to the town’s market where she used to shop. It is fitting that Hepburn chose elegant Morges to be her home. Hotel guests benefit from the FREE Morges Région Slow Pass, allowing you to hop on and off the local buses and trains.
