Highlights

Explore Furtschellas

This sister mountain to the Corvatsch is perfect for exploring from Sils, with a number of lovely walks to enjoy including circular trails and paths leading back down to the village. As well as views over the two main lakes of Sils and Silvaplana, there are a series of smaller mountain lakes to enjoy, as well as alpine meadows. At the cable car station there is a welcoming restaurant, and a children's playground with a petting zoo.

Your free Engadin Inclusive Card is valid during the summer, but a free option for winter is the walk from the base station of the Furtschellas cable car that leads through snow-blanketed pine forests to Alp Prasüra. Your uphill efforts are rewarded with relaxation on the sun terrace of the delightful Kuhstall mountain restaurant, a converted cow shed serving delicious local delicacies.

The Edelweiss Bench

Take a seat on the Edelweiss replica airline seats and enjoy the spectacular view of the lakes spreading out below you! From the middle station simply take the 5 minute walk in the direction of the Fex valley.

The Water Trail

This highly recommended circular walking trail takes you past no less than SIX crystal clear mountain lakes. From the Furtschellas middle station at 2,312m, the trail goes first towards Alp Munt and after a short steep uphill section your efforts are rewarded with the first of the six lakes. All the way along this family-friendly walk, you have wonderful views up to the icy pinnacles and rocky crags of the Corvatsch massif, as well as the beautiful water.

Walkers can enjoy a barbecue on the mountain - an open fire area, complete with ready-to-use wood and a metal grill, is available at Lejin Rhodonit. If you prefer to eat in a restaurant, La Chüdera is at the start/finish point and boasts a big sunshine terrace for relaxation and views. If you are walking with children, you can pick up an activity booklet at the cable car station for fun activities along the way.

The trail takes about 2 hours 30 minutes to cover the 5 kilometres and is suitable for families (although not pushchairs).

Via Gastronomica walking route with 3 course meal

The Via Gastronomica is a delightful way to spend a few hours on the mountain. You can choose your own walking route from the Furtschellas station down to the village, stopping at three specific restaurants along the way.

The culinary trail begins at the La Chüdera mountain restaurant, just by the Furtschellas middle station, where you will enjoy your starter. Heading out again, the trail leads into the Val Fex and depending on the chosen route will take you past either a glacial lake and the mountain peak of the Piz Chüern or via Marmoré directly down to the Hotel Sonne Fex. Lovely views en route change from lakes to flower-strewn alpine meadows. A delicious main course awaits you at the Sonne Fex. From here, you continue via Fex Platta, along the rugged gorge path back down to Sils Maria. In the idyllic village square you will be treated to a well deserved homemade dessert at the charming Hotel Seraina.

This wonderful excursion can take between 2 and 5 hours depending on your route and how long you linger in the restaurants! The walking level is easy to medium. The cost is 60 Sfr, or 45 Sfr if you have the Engadin Inclusive Card to cover the cable car (payable locally).

Directions

The Furtschellas cable car station is just outside Sils village, around a 10 minute walk. From Pontresina or St. Moritz you can take the bus to the cable car valley station. The cable car then departs regularly to the middle station. In winter, a chairlift takes you higher.

Please check before travel for maintenance closures.
