This is one of our 'Recommended winter holidays', which are well suited for a stay during the snowy months, when you'll experience Switzerland in a different way even if you are familiar with the scenic rail journeys in the summertime. The landscapes are simply beautiful and we include one or more day trips so that you can really get to know the lakes and mountains landscape in winter. Also included is your Swiss Travel Pass - for further travel at your leisure amidst the magical scenery. Day 1 - Arrive and explore historic Brig

Fly from your local airport to Geneva in under 2 hours with connecting rail travel to Brig. Welcome to your hotel for your 2 night stay and enjoy a stroll around this historic town.

Day 2 - Visit the world famous ski resort of Zermatt, known as the Matterhorn village

Your day starts with a lovely rail journey to Zermatt where you can visit the Matterhorn Museum which tells the tragic story of Edward Whymper and the first successful climb to the summit. You will see this iconic mountain with its near perfect silhouette clearly from the village but you may choose to get an even more stunning view by taking one of the famous mountain railways or cable cars (not included). Alternative excursions are available for the day with your Swiss Travel Pass.

Day 3 - Glacier Express to Chur including lunch. Enjoy the pure white snow of this winter highlight

Sit back and relax in your reserved seat on this leisurely 4 hour Glacier Express winter experience to Chur. You will be served a set lunch (drinks payable locally) while travelling through the picturesque Goms Valley en route to the highest point of the journey - the Oberalp Pass - before a spectacular finale to your journey travelling alongside the Rhine and through the Grand Canyon of Switzerland to Chur.

Day 4 - A choice of spectacular rail journeys

Chur, recognised as Switzerland’s oldest town, features an appealing historic centre. The town serves as an excellent base for exploring the surrounding region. We recommend taking the train along the renowned Albula route to St. Moritz, where visitors can experience the town’s attractions and its high-end shopping. Alternatively, picturesque Arosa presents another opportunity for a scenic rail journey. Enjoy the atmosphere and amenities of a premier ski resort.

Day 5 - Return to Lake Geneva and the charming lakeside resort of Morges

Travelling across Switzerland from the Graubünden region to Lake Geneva takes 4 hours and your reward is this lakeside gem of a town with fantastic restaurants and a pedestrianised Old Town. Enjoy a stroll around pretty Morges with its views of the lake or maybe visit the historic vineyards of Lavaux.

Day 6 - Last day of your holiday with all your memories of the visit

As Morges is only 40 minutes from the airport, you can enjoy a leisurely start before you take the train back to Geneva airport for your flight to the UK.
