With only 32 guests welcomed on each route, the atmosphere is intimate, unhurried, and designed for travellers who appreciate a VIP experience.

As the train glides along the UNESCO World Heritage route, the scenery becomes a spectacle in itself: soaring Alpine peaks, glittering glaciers, deep valleys carved by centuries of ice, and the gradual shift into the sun-drenched landscapes of the Southern Alps. The culinary centrepiece is an exclusive visit to the historic La Gatta vineyard, where guests enjoy a locally inspired lunch paired with regional wines, surrounded by terraced vines and warm Italian breezes.

Pullman Class transforms crossing the Alps into an unforgettable, once-in-a-lifetime experience … an elegant passage through some of Europe’s most breathtaking landscapes.

Highlights

The Bernina Pullman experience

Passengers are welcomed aboard the exclusive carriage by the concierge, who is there to assist you throughout the journey. As soon as you enter, the romance of the bygone era hits you. The elegant carriage has been refurbished in nostalgic style, with art deco touches and supremely comfortable armchairs, thoughtfully positioned with plenty of space in the teak-panelled carriage. Discover the historical charm of this unique carriage on a virtual 3D tour.

You will be offered Champagne and canapés during your journey; on the return trip passengers are served coffee and petit fours. A travel guide will help you to appreciate the scenic highlights as you make your way across the Alps in this exclusive setting.

In fine weather you may like to visit the open scenic carriages which are reserved exclusively for Pullman Class passengers. Enjoy the fresh air and uninterrupted views on the route from Tirano to St. Moritz.

Highlights of the journey

Morteratsch Glacier and Bernina Diavolezza - spectacular views of the region's biggest glacier

Ospizia Bernina - highest point of the alpine route at 2,253m above sea level

Lago Bianco - the lake is fed by glacial meltwater whose silt gives the water its milky white colour

Alp Grüm - splendid Alpine views from the station that can be reached only by foot or rail

Lago di Poschiavo - the calm and clear surface reflects the surrounding mountains like a mirror

Brusio circular viaduct - world-famous with a 360-degree curve to overcome the difference in altitude

La Gatta vineyard visit and lunch

The Bernina Express takes you just over the border to the town of Tirano in Italy.

In Tirano, you will be met from the train and taken to La Gatta vineyard, a short distance away. Wine has been produced here since the 16th century and the Domenican monastery has been refurbished to offer a fabulous setting. You will be treated to a tour of the cellar and a delicious three course lunch with complementary wines.

After lunch you have a choice to return to Tirano to explore this historic border town, or simply to relax in the vineyard's lovely estate for a while.

Your La Gatta visit and lunch is included with every booking, whether single or return.
