Highlights
Titlis Tower
Rising more than 3,000m above the Swiss Alps, the newly opened Titlis Tower offers a spectacular new way to experience one of Switzerland’s most iconic mountain landscapes. The striking steel-and-glass tower forms a Swiss cross when viewed from the air and offers breathtaking alpine views. Don't miss the Horizon Deck which reveals sweeping views over glaciers and snow-covered peaks. Joseph's Restaurant is the setting for casual fine dining with an amazing view and also features the Alpine Lounge for drinks and snacks. There's even an exclusive Rolex boutique at 3,020m. The new tower enhances the summit experience while maintaining mountain access via the TITLIS Connect cableway during ongoing works, delivering year-round adventure in the heart of Switzerland.
Titlis Rotair cable car
The gondola cable car (closed 17 Aug - 11 Dec) rotates its way up towards the snow-covered summit of Titlis. The world's first revolving gondola transports you from the middle station at Stand up to the mountain station at 3,020m above sea level. The gondola revolves 360 degrees during the five-minute trip, treating you to idyllic panoramic views of steep rock faces, deep crevasses and distant snow-covered mountain peaks.
Cliff Walk
This is Europe's highest suspension bridge at 3,041m above sea level, 500m off the ground. From the Titlis summit, the route leads you through an underground tunnel and on to the viewing platform at the south wall window. The suspension bridge stretches from here to the Ice Flyer glacier chair lift station. The Cliff Walk is one metre wide and 100 metres long and the views into the abyss below are breathtaking! Free entry.
Please note: the suspension bridge will be closed in bad weather.Â
The Ice Flyer
The chair lift sweeps you smoothly and safely over crisp, virgin snow fields and icy depths. Look down for spectacular views: some of the crevasses are up to ten metres deep. Only here on Titlis can you expect such a fantastic glacier experience. In the summer months, the Ice Flyer will transport you to the snow park up on the glacier. Tickets are 12 CHF for the return journey and are purchased at the entrance.Â
Glacier Park
All kinds of fun snow activities await you May-July at the glacier park. Whizz down the snow on the fun minibobs and let the magic carpet conveyor belt whisk you back to the top. Snowtubing is the ultimate experience as you skim over the glistening snow on a rubber tyre. Sit or lie down and spin in full circles several times before reaching the end of exhilarating ride. You will need to buy an Ice Flyer ticket to reach this activity.
Please note: the Glacier Park will be closed in bad weather.Â
Glacier cave
The frosty heart of Titlis where the ice dates from pre-historic times. The cave's 150m long walkway descends 20m below the surface. The hazy atmosphere is the result of tiny air pockets in the ice, and the blue colour is caused by the refraction of light. The temperature inside the cave remains a frosty -1.5°C. Free entry. Â
Stotzig Egg
From the mountain station, it is only a short walk through the fluffy white snow to the vantage point at Stotzig Egg. From here, you can look forward to spectacular views of the nearby and distant peaks that make up the Central Swiss Alps. In good weather, you can even see as far as the Bernese Oberland, the mountains of Valais region and Schwarzwald. You will feel on top of the world.
Trübsee station and alpine lodge
On your way up to Titlis, you will pass through Trübsee. Pause at 1,800m to look at the views and visit the chocolate shop with more than 300 specialities, a souvenir shop and the Bucherer boutique watch shop. You may like to grab a snack in the self service café or for a special treat, head to the Restaurant Atelier Hess. The kitchen offers alpine fusion cuisine, where Swiss classics have been given an international twist, shaped with craftsmanship and passion for food.
Hiking
Countless walking and hiking trails await you in the beautiful Titlis region, from a casual stroll to a challenging hike.
Biking
Titlis and the surrounding valley is a haven for mountain biking. You can hire bikes and day passes locally and explore the countryside. Alternatively, try hiring Trotti Bikes (10 years+) and scooting all the way down from Untertrübsee to Engelberg.Â
Boating
Head for scenic Trübsee, where each boat has space for four 'sailors' (life jackets provided). A donation of 10 Sfrs is suggested for your relaxing trip on the lake.Â
Knorrli Adventure Trail
The stations offer climbing, balancing, guessing games and jumping. The 3.5km trail runs around the Trübsee lake and is suitable for families with pushchairs. There are four campfire spots along the way where you can enjoy a snack in the great outdoors.Â
Directions
By boat, train or bus to Engelberg:
Take the boat from Lucerne via the shimmering blue Lake Lucerne to Stansstad and then continue your journey by train to Engelberg. Alternatively, travel directly through the scenic countryside on the Luzern-Engelberg Express. Â Â Â
Travelling up the mountain:
Hop on the six-seater cable car from Engelberg to Trübsee middle station. Continue to Stand glacier station on the aerial cableway and then take the rotating cable car or the Titlis Connect cable car to the summit station at 3,020 metres above sea level.
