Your Onward Transfers In Switzerland

Sit back and relax en route to the resort

Your onward journey from the airport to your resort is by train – offering space to move around, comfortable seating, and the chance to sit back and relax with refreshments on board. Swiss Federal Railways are among the most efficient in the world, operating with the precision of a Swiss watch. And the best part is that there are some beautiful views to savour as you travel through the countryside. All travel from airport to resort and back again is included in your holiday price.

Some alpine resorts such as Mürren and Saas-Fee do not have rail links into the village, so we'll arrange rail transfers to the nearest town and last part of the journey will be via the famous yellow PostBus or by cable car.

Every customer receives a personalised itinerary timed to your flight, with a suggested train around an hour after landing.

It includes details of every connection, platform numbers, and even an alternative timetable in case of flight delays.

We also recommend downloading the SBB app for live timetables and real-time updates while you’re travelling.

Transfer to your resort

Your itinerary will show your recommended onward train times and we'll even tell you which platform to head for!

Arriving by air

Zurich and Geneva

Both airports have a railway station conveniently located within the terminal, with frequent connections across Switzerland. Clear signage makes it easy to find your platform – and you can even wheel a luggage trolley onto the escalators.

Basel

From Basel airport, an efficient shuttle bus departs every 20 minutes for the short ride to the city’s main railway station.

Arriving by rail

For those arriving into Switzerland by international rail, you will find easy connections departing from the station into which you arrive (Geneva, Basel, Zurich and Bern).

Arriving in resort
On arrival, what happens next depends on your destination. Alpine hotels often provide a porter service with a private minibus/electric shuttle to pick you up from the station. Lakeside hotels often also include porter service or a private taxi transfer in the room price. Where porter or transfer services are offered, we’ll make the arrangements on your behalf. In larger resorts such as Lucerne, Interlaken and Montreux we will provide a walking map if your hotel is within 10 minutes on foot, or suggest taking a taxi from the cab rank just outside the station.

Second class in Switzerland is already excellent, but an upgrade to First Class adds comfort and little luxuries at a surprisingly modest cost.

You can expect:

  • Wider, individually adjustable seats
  • More legroom and space to move around
  • Quieter carriages with fewer passengers
  • Power sockets and more luggage space
  • At-seat minibar service on many routes

How long does it take to reach the resorts?

Zurich, Geneva and Basel airports are located on Switzerland’s northern and western edges.

Most lakes and mountains resorts are to be found further towards the centre of the country, hence the rail transfer, much of which will be through interesting and scenic landscapes. Some resorts are more easily reached from Zurich, others from Geneva – our team will be delighted to advise on the best routing for your holiday.
