Walking in Central Switzerland
The famous Swiss Trail is particularly recommended for lakeside walking. The path stretches 35km around Lake Uri from the Rütli Meadow to Brunnen and takes in several historical landmarks, for this is the birthplace of the Swiss Confederation. You can choose to walk the entire stretch, or use the excellent boat, bus and mountain railway connecting services - click here for more details.
The mountains also offer a wealth of walking opportunities with beautiful views and paths to suit both serious hikers and those who prefer more gentle walks. Please click here to find out more about the walks on offer on Rigi, Stanserhorn and Titlis.
