Rustic charm is combined with over 100km of marked pistes in Saas-Fee and 45km in the Saas Valley. With guaranteed snow at this picturesque resort, there is a wide choice for all grades of skier. The glacier provides a dramatic backdrop to several of the runs, many of which are above the tree line. The village is traffic free, except for the little electric trolleys that carry goods around and this makes for a special atmosphere as you stroll through the narrow cobbled streets. Even the newest buildings feature a wealth of wood as development has been strictly controlled. Above Saas-Fee the ‘Metro-Alpin’, the highest underground funicular in the world, climbs up to the world’s highest revolving restaurant at 3,500m, which also boasts the biggest ice pavilion in the world!

Mittelallalin & Felskinn Felskinn at 3,000m is reached by two different cable car systems from either end of the village and these can bring you up to Morenia (2,550m) where you can start your day’s skiing or carry on up to Felskinn. From here you can ski across to Egginerjoch then up to 3,192m for a choice of red and black runs. Above Felskinn there are usually good moguls if you are looking for something testing. From Felskinn the ‘Metro-Alpin’ climbs up through the solid rock to Mittelallalin at a fantastic 3,500m and here there is a revolving restaurant where you can enjoy a drink before starting your descent over the glacier. There's a wonderful 10km run back to the village - call in at the Gletschergrotte restaurant.
Längfluh This area is reached by gondola and cable car from the village or by skiing down from Mittelallalin. The restaurant here has spectacular views over the glacier from its terrace. The lifts at Längfluh offer several interesting runs followed by a choice of two different 5km runs back to the village. From Längfluh a drag lift can take you across the glacier to link up with the Felskinn ski area.
Plattjen A gondola from the village takes you up to Plattjen at 2,567m where the mountain restaurant is one of the best in the resort. The pistes back to Saas-Fee are firstly on wide and open slopes above the tree line and then through the pine woods with a choice of easy, medium and difficult runs to bring you back to the village.
Winter walking Over 60km of well kept paths. Why not take the cable car up to the restaurant at Hannig, then enjoy a lovely one hour walk back down to the village.
Ice rink There is a fantastic natural ice rink which is used for skating and curling from mid December to end February.
Toboggan The sunny Hannig viewpoint is the starting point for the 6km sledging trail which takes you on a fun ride down to the village. Sledges can be rented at the Hannig station.
Cross country skiing The cross-country trail in Saas-Fee is groomed over a distance of 6km. The 26km Saas Valley trail goes from Saas-Balen (1,483m) to Eiualp (1,930m).
Aqua Allalin wellness & fitness centre Make the most of this magnificent complex with its swimming pool, tennis courts, table tennis, exercise room, Turkish bath, sauna, whirlpool, relaxation area with sun lamps and a restaurant.
Kindergarten Free kindergarten for guests of the Hotel Alphubel – see hotel details. There is also a wide range of child care facilities in resort which can include skiing if required.
There is a profusion of cosy spots for a drink as you wend your way back from the slopes. On your way home why not try favourites such as Alpenpub, the Igluor or the Black Bull Bar. After dinner the nightlife really gets into full swing at discos such as Popcorn and Poison where you can dance the night away. You could also enjoy a drink in the more relaxed atmosphere of the Metro Bar, and Nesti’s. Most weeks have special events such as Snow & Style sessions, folklore evenings and ice hockey.
Your ticket wallet will contain comprehensive travel instructions to help you reach your destination with ease, including recommended rail connection times and platform numbers. These are the most common routes for your Saas-Fee ski holiday.
