Check in to your hotel for your 4 night stay and take a stroll around this idyllic, traffic-free village.
Days 2-4. Explore the Jungfrau region
Mürren is located in the heart of amazing alpine scenery. From your base here, you can enjoy many memorable walks with stunning views and there are plenty of mountain restaurants en route for a cooling drink or a spot of lunch. The Schilthorn mountain is close at hand - enjoy the cable car ride to the summit, where you'll find the James Bond museum, a revolving restaurant and views as far as the Black Forest and Mont Blanc. Allmendhubel is another recommended excursion - a true beauty spot - and the villages of Wengen and Lauterbrunnen are certainly worth visiting. The iconic yellow PostBus can take you to the impressive Trümmelbach Falls, which carry the meltwater from the Jungfrau glacier to the valleys below.
Days 5. Travel to Lucerne, including the Luzern-Interlaken Express
It's time to head back down the mountain. When you reach Interlaken, you'll transfer to the famous Luzern-Interlaken Express. The train has huge panoramic windows, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the scenery as you travel through the Hasliberg region, over the Brünig Pass and towards Lucerne.
Days 5-7. The lakes and mountains of Lucerne
Lucerne is a bustling lakeside resort, renowned for its wonderful scenery, history and charm. Once you've checked in for your 3 night stay, you can easily walk from your hotel to the historic centre and start to explore the Chapel Bridge and atmospheric squares and take in views of the sparkling lake. Nostalgic paddle steamers and modern vessels sail regularly, so you will be able to experience a leisurely cruise as far along the lake as you wish. Lucerne is also perfect for local mountain visits. Pilatus, Rigi and the Stanserhorn all make for memorable days out, with a mix of lake, rail and cable car travel giving scenic views en route.
