Day 1. Arrive and explore Lucerne with all that you expect from a Swiss holiday
Flight from the UK to Zurich airport with rail travel to Lucerne. Check in to your hotel for your 4 night stay and enjoy your first look around Lucerne.
Days 2-4. In and around Central Switzerland
With your Swiss Travel Pass, Lucerne is the perfect spot from which to enjoy FREE travel around the dramatic scenery of Central Switzerland. You should make time to explore the mountains including the famous old cog railway to the stunning peak of Mount Rigi and glorious Mount Pilatus. Alternative trips further afield: Bern, Interlaken, or Lake Constance on the German border! Other mountain railways and cable cars are available at a 50% reduction.
Day 5. Luzern-Interlaken Express to Interlaken
The panoramic carriages of the Luzern-Interlaken Express travel along a particularly scenic route over the Brünig Pass to Meiringen, famous as a starting point for visits into the gorges before following the shore of Lake Brienz into Interlaken - your base for the next 4 nights.
Days 6-8. Interlaken and the Bernese Oberland
With your Swiss Travel Pass, Interlaken is the perfect spot from which to enjoy FREE travel around the classic Swiss scenery of the Bernese Oberland. The lakes of Brienz and Thun both have wonderful cruises to idyllic lakeside villages. Take a trip to Harder Kulm with its stunning views over Interlaken or the scenic Schynige Platte - Alpine Garden. Other trips further afield: Bern, Lucerne or Zermatt! On most scenic mountain railways you get a 50% reduction including Schilthorn - Piz Gloria and the Brienzer Rothorn steam train, a real treat for any train enthusiast, as well as many other wonderful excursions in this beautiful region. 4 nights is not enough!
Day 9. Interlaken to Zermatt for 3 nights
Enjoy your first views of the Matterhorn mountain in this high Alpine resort.
Days 10-11. Zermatt and the Valais region
Zermatt is surrounded by awesome mountains, the most famous being the Matterhorn. Enjoy your time in car-free Zermatt and be sure to experience one of the unmissable mountain journeys with 50% reduction, such as the network of cable cars to Klein Matterhorn which at 3,883m is the highest sightseeing point in Europe. Try an alternative view from the idyllic lake of Schwarzsee at the foot of the Matterhorn, or take the cog railway to the pure air and mountain restaurants of the Gornergrat.
Day 12. Glacier Express to St. Moritz including lunch
Today you will join the Glacier Express train on its journey to St. Moritz in the scenic Upper Engadin region. The complete journey takes 7½ hours in the comfort of special panoramic coaches where a 3 course lunch is served at your table and refreshments are available throughout your trip. Highlights of this classic route through the mountains include the Goms Valley, Oberalp Pass, the Rhine Gorge and Landwasser Viaduct.
Days 13-14. Time to explore this chic resort and take a day trip on the Bernina Express to Tirano
Your visit to St. Moritz and the Upper Engadin valley is greatly enhanced by FREE transport including mountain railways, buses and cable cars, giving you unlimited access to wonderful walks and excursions, including the excellent panoramic walk at Alp Languard with views over the Bernina massif. Other recommendations include the funicular to Corviglia, connecting to the cable car to Piz Nair at 3,057m. Your holiday price includes a day trip on the famous Bernina Express. This amazing scenic journey transports you across the Alps and down to the Italian town of Tirano where you can find a welcoming trattoria for lunch.
Day 15. Last day
Time for a last look around St. Moritz before you take the train to Zurich airport for your flight to the UK.
