Check in to your hotel for your 2 night stay and enjoy the charming resort of Arosa.

Day 2. Arosa and the high Alps

Arosa is an attractive village and one of the highest resorts in Switzerland, situated at 1,800m and our hotel guests benefit from the Arosa All-Inclusive Card which gives you free transportation into the mountains where you can enjoy the stunning scenery on leisurely walks along well prepared and signposted hiking paths. Arosa's ‘high street' - the Poststrasse - with its variety of shops and restaurants snakes up from Lake Obersee to Innerarosa where you will find the 15th century chapel is well worth a visit.

Day 3. Travel to Montreux featuring the Glacier Express between Chur and Brig including lunch

Your scenic rail journeys today starts with the hour long Arosa Line to Chur where you join the famous Glacier Express to Brig. This part of the journey takes around 4 hours and you will be served a 3 course lunch at your seat while you travel through the dramatic Rhine Gorge, known as the 'Grand Canyon of Switzerland' which certainly makes for a spectacular start to your journey. Highlights of this classic route include views of the 17th century monastery at Disentis before the highest point of the journey - the Oberalp Pass at 2,044m. You descend past the idyllic little villages of the Goms valley to Brig before your journey continues to Montreux on Lake Geneva for checking into your hotel for your 2 night stay.

Day 4. Montreux and Lake Geneva

Montreux is one of the oldest resorts in Switzerland, with cafés and shops and a wonderful promenade which you can follow round the bay to the romantic Chillon Castle. Your Swiss Travel Pass gives you FREE travel on the lake boats and mainline trains, so you can plan a visit to historic Geneva, Lausanne and the vineyards at Lavaux. The mountain railway to Les Rochers-de-Naye, where you get a 50% reduction, is highly recommended for its spectacular views of the Eiger and Mont Blanc. Enjoy a leisurely lunch here and visit the Alpine Garden.

Day 5. Montreux to Lucerne on the GoldenPass Line

This scenic journey has many highlights. The GoldenPass Line train starts with a steep ascent giving you unrivalled views of Montreux and Lake Geneva. You’ll enjoy beautiful scenery around the chic resort of Gstaad and the lush pastures of the Simmen Valley before you change trains at Zweisimmen and then descend to Spiez and travel alongside Lake Thun to Interlaken. At Interlaken you change for the last part of your journey on the Luzern-Interlaken Express over the Brünig Pass to Lucerne and its lovely Lake.

Days 6-7. Lucerne and Central Switzerland
