A tale of two Switzerland's - Your Wilhelm Tell Express journey starts in Lucerne as you board a nostalgic paddle steamer or a salon motor vessel and cruise to Flüelen on Lake Lucerne in about 2½ hours. While you enjoy your meal in the first class restaurant, you can watch the sleepy bays, picturesque villages and historic landmarks such as the Rütli and Tellsplatte silently glide by.

In Flüelen, only a few steps away from the pier, you board air-conditioned, first class panorama cars of the Swiss Federal Railways. The trip continues through the awesome Reuss Valley with its deep ravines and precipitous cliffs. The world-famous Gotthard line swiftly climbs from 470m to about 1,100m to finally enter the 15km long Gotthard Tunnel, Europe's most important north/south gateway. Countless spiral and horseshoe tunnels, galleries and bridges testify to the remarkable achievements of the men who built this masterpiece of civil engineering.

After the 10 minute tunnel passage, you'll arrive in the lovely Ticino region, where you travel through the Leventina Valley crossing breathtaking cantilevered bridges and passing charming villages on the way to Bellinzona. From here the next leg is to Locarno or Lugano - the choice is yours!

You can enjoy a unique new experience - the Wilhelm Tell Express 'Premium'. The 'Premium' service is available during the summer, which offers a 3 course menu on the paddle steamer and you travel in a special coach with the services of a multilingual guide on the train. Premium class supplement of £30 per person.

Fast Baggage – Transfer your luggage between resorts
To help you enjoy your scenic rail journey between resorts, you can arrange 'Fast Baggage'. All you need to do is hand your luggage into the station before 9am and collect it at your destination on the same day any time after 6pm. There are a few stations where your luggage will not be available until the following morning.
The cost of this service is 20 Sfrs per item which is payable locally.
