Wilderswil is a true lakes and mountains resort, within a comfortable walk of Bönigen on the shores of Lake Brienz, laying beneath the towering trio of the Jungfrau, Mönch and Eiger which stand like stately sentinels over this traditional village. Wilderswil even has its own mountain where a rack and pinion railway (mid June to end September) takes you up to over 1300m to the Schynige Platte and its Alpine Flower Garden with wonderful views of both lakes and mountains. This peaceful village, is just a short bus or train ride away from the bustle of Interlaken.
Meiringen, situated along the Hasli Valley from Brienz is a wonderful base from which to explore the variety of natural wonders of the area characterised by water with ancient glaciers, glistening lakes, roaring waterfalls and bubbling streams. Visit the Aare Gorge carved out over thousands of years, the Hasliberg mountain and the Grimsel pass with its glacier lake filled from four Aare glaciers. Meiringen also has a close association with Sherlock Holmes and the spectacular Reichenbach Falls.
