If you are looking for somewhere to enjoy the views over Central Switzerland, Stanserhorn is perfect for you. The Stanserhorn which lies at 1,898 metres offers a view of ten lakes, 100 kilometres of the Alpine mountain range and three countries. An amazing way to enjoy the fabulous views is in the revolving restaurant or on the viewing platform.  

Arrival by Boat: A relaxing and glorious way to reach the Stanserhorn Bahn is by taking the boat from Lucerne to Stans which takes approximately 75 minutes. From Stans to Stanserhorn the first leg of the journey is by funicular railway and the second leg is by cable car (25 minutes).

Arrival by Train: From Lucerne you can take the train to Stans, which takes 19 minutes and as above you would take the funicular and cable car from Stans to Stanserhorn.

Arrival by Car: If you are travelling by car, from the A2 motorway, take exit Stans Nord and follow the signs towards the village. The base station of the Stanserhorn train is on the right hand side, directly opposite the hotel Stanserhof.

Revolving restaurant: It takes 43 minutes for the 'Rondorama' restaurant to turn on its own axis and you are invited to be a part of this panoramic experience. The terraces around the restaurant are adjusted to the star shape and allow through staged levels a clear panorama view. There is a self-service buffet with a wide selection and variety of foods.

Viewing Platforms: The unique viewing platform in the middle of Central Switzerland, offers you a clear view of the Säntis Mountain, Finsteraarhorn, Eiger, Mönch, Jungfrau and the Brienzer Rothorn. On a clear Autum day the view can extend to the Vosges in Alsace and the Feldberg in the Black Forest.

Hiking: There are many hiking possibilities to and from the Stanserhorn. There are 5 main hiking routes which are as follows:

Hike 1 - Stans - Stanserhorn
Hike 2 - Stans - Stanserhorn (longer route) or via Wässerli Ebnet
Hike 3 - Stanserhorn - Wirzweli
Hike 4 - Geo Trail
Hike 5 - Stanserhorn - Sarner Aa - Valley

Marmot Park: Take a visit to the Stanserhorn Marmot park and walk on the well designed Rock-Gipfelweg. The trail leads to the summit, where at the highest point you can enjoy a breathtaking 360-degree panorama. In clear weather, the mountain giants feel as if they are close enough to touch. The duration of the tour is 30 minutes.

The 'lazy' Mountain: It has been confirmed by experts..! You can become the ultimate slacker on the Stanserhorn. You can laze around on the deck chairs till your hearts content enjoying the magnificient panoramic Stanserhorn surroundings. You can enjoy views whilst sitting back with some snacks and an iced cold drink....!

Convertible Cable Car (New in 2012): The design and colour of the worlds first convertible cable car has been announced! It will be a glass structure with plenty of room for an open air view into the mountains. It is a metallic white colour and will offer fabulous views as you ascend or descend the Stanserhorn. It is due to open in 2012 and currently has an exhibition running in the revolving 'Ronodrama' restaurant with full details. The exhibition is open until the 16th October 2011. We will bring you more details soon.

Candle lit dinner on the Stanserhorn: On weekend evenings, restaurant Rondorama turns all romantic! Instead of being a self-service, the lights are dimmed, the candles are lit and you will be served a 4 course meal. The rides up to the top start at 17.15-22.15 and the last ride down is at 23.00. The roundtrip costs 32 Sfr (payable locally) and a 4 course meal is 59 Sfr (also payable locally and excludes drinks) The candle lit dinner will take place every Friday night from May 13th to October 21st and every Saturday night from June 4th until October 22nd 2011. Early reservations are highly recommended.
