The highlight of a Swiss holiday is to travel along one of the many scenic routes which cross Switzerland. These journeys are a great way of combining resorts to create your own two centre or multi-stay holiday and we have shown a few suggestions but we will be happy to help you with your individual requirments.
Fast Baggage – transfer your luggage between resorts
To help you enjoy your scenic rail journey between resorts, you can arrange 'Fast Baggage'. All you need to do is hand your luggage into the station before 9am and then collect it at your destination on the same day any time after 6pm. There are a few stations where your luggage will not be available until the following morning.
The cost of this service is 20 Sfrs per item which is payable locally.

A panoramic journey through the heart of Switzerland on board the world's slowest express train. In just under 8 hours the Glacier Express winds its way up to over 2,000m at the Oberalp Pass, through the unspoilt natural beauty of a landscape of glaciers, ancient forests, rushing mountain streams and valleys. Crossing the Alps in style, the train climbs to an impressive 2,223m to the Bernina pass and offers breathtaking vistas from the comfort of the panorama carriages as you ride over graceful viaducts, galleries hewn from the sheer rock, along rushing mountain streams, glaciers and even an alpine garden. Your journey starts with a 2½ hour cruise on a first class vintage paddle steamer, where you can enjoy an excellent meal, which is included in your price, while criss-crossing the beautiful Lake Lucerne to Flüelen. Here you join your first class panorama train for your spectacular journey through the Gotthard tunnel to your final destination. En route you travel through the awesome Reuss valley with its deep ravines and precipitous cliffs, the world famous Gotthard tunnel, the Leventina valley crossing, cantilevered bridges and charming villages. Daily Lucerne to Interlaken to Montreux and vice versa in 5 hours.
The GoldenPass Line is an extraordinary journey in three luxury trains, with a panoramic view of the breathtaking scenery over three different passes. Depart from historic Lucerne and cross the Brünig Pass to Interlaken in around 2 hours. The second train takes you to Zweisimmen via the beautiful lakeside village of Spiez, before the final leg of the journey which takes a leisurely 2 hours through the beautiful Simmen valley via the rich and famous playground of Gstaad before an electrifying descent through Les Avants to Lake Geneva and Montreux. Excellent catering facilities are provided, with a dining car between Lucerne and Interlaken and a Railbar service through to Montreux. More details

The Centovalli (hundred valleys) Train departs Locarno and underground to the outskirts of Locarno for an incredible journey along the Centovalli via the high point at Santa Maria Maggiore over the Italian boarder, along the Valle Vigezzo to Domodossola. The journey takes just under 2 hours past breath-taking gorges with crashing waterfalls, over spectacular bridges and passing through delightful villages. Vineyards also line the route which vary in style from the manicured vine hedges of the Swiss to the somewhat ramshackled family vineyards over the boarder in Italy. The finale of the journey offers spectacular views of the descent to Domodossola where the track winds down over 250m. More details

Although the new Lötschberg base tunnel, which was opened in 2007, has cut journey times between the Valais and Bernese Oberland regions, you miss a lot by being in the new longer tunnel. The original 100 year old route has its great attractions - the impressive view of the Rhone Valley, the attractive village of Kandesrsteg which is revealed after leaving the old tunnel and the desent with incredable loops around the remains of the Felsenburg tower and the imposing Kander Viaduct before arriving in the popular lakeside resort of Spiez. The wonderful old town of Thun is further 10 minutes by train round the lake. More details

The route from Lucerne to Bern via the Entlebuch and Emmental regions is consindered an insider's tip amoung the scenic routes of Switzerland.
As you travel into the Entlebuch, you traverse Switzerland's first UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. The fasinating fens are best known for their large diversity of auna and flora.
The Emmental still has an unspolit nature with its typical farmhouses with their low-lying roofs set against the gently undulating hills. The milk which is made into the famous Emmentaler Cheese with its characteristic big holes, comes from the cows grazing the lush meadows here. More details.

Daily St Moritz to Lugano with Swiss postbus and vice versa in under 4 hours.
After leaving the attractive resort of St. Moritz, you drive along the delightful lakes of the Upper Engadin, surrounded by sparse larch forests and towering peaks passing through the villages of Silvaplana and Sils with the typical Engadin houses.
Maloja is the name of both the last Engadin village and the Alpine pass connecting the region with the Bregaglia Valley.
Shortly after crossing the Maloja Pass, the road descends into the Bregaglia Valley. Set among marvellous chestnut forests, the villages of the valley have a distinctive Mediterrranean character.
At Castasegna the Palm Express crosses into Italy. Shortly afterwards, you will arrive in the charming market town of Chiavenna, at the juction of the Maloja and Spügen pass roads. Here you can refresh yourself or enjoy a real Italian espresso before continuing your journey. More details
