Palm Express
Swiss Postbus service via the Maloja Pass and Bregaglia Valley
Route: St Moritz - Lugano or vice versa
After leaving the attractive resort of St. Moritz, you drive along the delightful lakes of the Upper Engadin, surrounded by sparse larch forests and towering peaks passing through the villages of Silvaplana and Sils with the typical Engadin houses.

Maloja is the name of both the last Engadin village and the Alpine pass connecting the region with the Bregaglia Valley.
Shortly after crossing the Maloja Pass, the road descends into the Bregaglia Valley. Set among marvellous chestnut forests, the villages of the valley have a distinctive Mediterrranean character.
At Castasegna the Palm Express crosses into Italy. Shortly afterwards, you will arrive in the charming market town of Chiavenna, at the juction of the Maloja and Spügen pass roads. Here you can refresh yourself or enjoy a real Italian espresso before continuing your journey.
Passing the Lago di Mezzola, you will soon reach the Y-shaped Lake Como. Gera Lario, Domaso, Gravedona and Menaggio are popular resorts and after Menaggio you can enjoy the superb views of Lake Como before reaching Lake Lugano at Porlezza. Further along the lake at Gandria, we cross back into Switzerland and shortly arrive in Lugano.
