Männlichen
Bernese Oberland

From Interlaken Ost 82 Sfrs or 41 Sfrs with your half fare card.
Fantastic views can be seen from the top of the Männlichen. You can enjoy breathtaking views of the Eiger, Mönch, Jungfrau and surrounding mountains. The station at the top is an ideal starting point for many hiking excursions and is also the perfect place for relaxing with a drink on the superb sun terrace.
Directions: From Wengen, the Männlichen is accessed by the cable car. The station is only a few metres from the centre of Wengen. The spectacular ride climbs over 1000m to the Männlichen which stands at 2,230m. The broad panorama of mountains, flowers and animals unfold during the silent ascent in the spacious cabins.
Wengen is reached by train from Interlaken/Lauterbrunnen.

The Männlichen can also be reached from Grindelwald Grund by Europe's longest gondola ride which takes approximately 30 minutes.
Travel to Grindelwald by rail or car and there is ample parking by the gondola station.
All excursions can of course be combined with other journeys by train and cable car. Special events are available like sunset excursions, bright moonlight hikes and wildlife watching.
Hiking: The Männlichen has something for everyone with more than enough hiking options for all. There are routes such as the alpine road between Männlichen and Holenstein which is wheelchair accessible. Also there is a steep path back to Wengen and gentler ones towards Grindelwald. Without a doubt the 1½ hour panoramic walk to the Kleine Scheidegg will be the highlight of your hiking holiday in Wengen (route 33 on the map). Click here for a map of the area.

The Felixtrail: For children there is a great hiking route called the Felixweg Männlichen to Holenstein. The character Felix is a bunny that has travelled around the world and you can join him on his adventure to see the high mountains and watch the wildlife. Join Felix on his adventure to find out which animals live in the Alps, which plants grow here and how the weather can sometimes play tricks. There are lots of fun things for you to spot and try along the way. You can even have a barbeque at two designated areas. The hike down to Holenstein middle station takes about 90 minutes. But of course you will need much longer to discover all the fun things to the left and right of the trail.
The apple fritter path: The educational fruit path from Holenstein to Brandegg. Hiking time is approximately 1.5 hours and is an easy hike. The great hiking path offers an eventful and educational experience in a dreamlike landscape. The sensational mountain panorama of the famous Eiger north face unfolds right before your feet. At six information posts you can test and improve your knowledge of fruit! The icing on the cake is to stop at the Restaurant Brandegg for some warm apple fritters and a fruit juice.

The mountain Inn: At the top of the mountain there is a lovely mountain restaurant which offers not only great views, but a time to relax, sit back and enjoy their culinary delights. They offer great food and a friendly service. In addition to the restaurant there is a fabulous playground for the little ones with a mini-sized gondola, slide, bridge and imaginary cliffs and mountain peaks. You can also observe marmots, keep a look out for eagles or splash in the small stream.
