Rivera - Monte Tamaro

 Situated in the area between Lugano – Bellinzona – Locarno. Travel by train to Rivera and catch the cable car to the top of Monte Tamaro at Alpe Foppa for some of the most beautiful views of Swiss and Italian mountains and lakes. Alpe Foppa is also the starting point of several panoramic hikes and alpine coaster bob and has a restaurant serving Swiss-Italian specialities.

Miglieglia - Monte Lema

You take the bus to Miglieglia to connect with the cable car to the top of one of the most panoramic and majestic summits of Italian Switzerland. Its natural green terrace overlooks the southern valleys of Ticino, and the lakes of Lugano and Maggiore. There is a panoramic restaurant to add to your enjoyment.

Capolago - Monte Generoso

Monte Generoso is the highest mountain around
Lugano and the 40 minute journey by cog wheel
railway starts from Capolago which can be reached by train, bus or lake steamer. From the summit you have magnificent panoramic views over the Alps, the lakes of Lugano, Como and Maggiore as well as the plain of Lombardy.

Cruises on Lake Lugano


A great range of cruises around the lake to some of the most wonderful villages including; Gandria is an unspoilt, picturesque village at the foot of Monte Brè, with narrow streets and great restaurants. Another captivating location is Morcote with its long arcades, old houses, shops and the church of Santa Maria del Sasso. Campione d’Italia, which is an Italian enclave on Lake Lugano famous for its casino and the sanctuary ‘Madonna del Ghirli’ built in the 9th century, is also worth a visit.

Bellinzona


A short journey by train from Lugano will be rewarded by a great day out in the historic town of Bellinzona recognised by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. The old town is dominated by three fantastically preserved medieval castles. Allow time for lunch!
