Stage One - Lake Geneva to the Bernese Oberland

The lakes route is aptly named because from its start in Vevey on Lake Geneva in the south, the route skirts 16 lakes before reaching its destination at Lake Conatance in the north. We offer this tour in three stages, each four days and three nights. Of course you can combine all three parts and cycle in 12 days across Switzerland. If you complete the Lakes Route you can pat yourself on the back and know that you've really experienced Switzerland. 
Your luggage will be transfered between hotels which enables you to fully enjoy the wonders of the journey unencumbered.

Days 1 and 2


Travel to Vevey on Lake Geneva


We arrange your travel from the UK to Vevey ready to join the tour
Day 2. Time to enjoy the delights of Vevey and Lake Geneva. Visit nearby Montreux or take an excursion into the mountains.

Day3

Lake Geneva to Gruyeres
Approximately 45 km


We meet at 8am in the lobby of our hotel. Your guide welcomes you and you get your bicycle ready. Leaving sparkling Lake Geneva behind your ride takes the old Cheese Route to Gruyeres. This pretty village perched on its hill attracts thousands of tourists every year who all fall prey to its medieval charms.

Day 4

Gruyeres to Simmen valley / Bernese Oberland
Approximately 64 km


The clanking of cow bells will be your constant companion on this stretch in Saanen country and the Simmen valley. This is dairying country at its best. We overnight in the heart of the Simmen valley, in Boltigen.

Day 5

Simmen Valley - Meiringen
Approximately 73 km


Lake Thun and Lake Brienz are framed by the snowy peaks of the Bernese ALps - a panorama that dosn't get better than this! and as for Interlaken, the adventure capital of Switzerland, there's no shortgae of choice.

Day 6

Return journey or continue the tour with stage 2.


This is the end of stage 1.
