Engelberg

Central Switzerland

The high valley of Engelberg offers the opportunity for an action packed holiday and is ideal for those who just want to relax and enjoy the views.

The famous mountain in Engelberg is Mount Titlis and its glacier Park which is accessible by a revolving rotair cableway. It lies at an altitude of 3,020 metres above sea level and boast amazing views from the top. You can even stop off at the middle station for a walk around the lake and continue up to the top. This is fun for all the family.

For those of you who love to explore the countryside on foot, the perfect way to enjoy this is by going on themed walking trails (mountain flower trail, Brunni trail and tickle trail) .

There are plenty of activities for those who like to try something more adventurous including Via ferrata - the ultimate climbing experience for beginners to experts, paragliding, river rafting, canyoning and biking. There is even an 18-hole golf course.

Engelberg is great for families with children and offers a wealth of activities including an exotic petting zoo and a summer tobogganing run.

Benedictine Monastery
At the heart of Engelberg is this famous monastery which was founded in 1120 and was rebuilt between 1735 and1740. Today it is still a working monastery and very interesting guided tours are available so you can experience the incredible calming atmosphere of this unique place. Another high point is the organ recitals during the summer which highlight the sounds of the largest pipe organ in Switzerland.
