Centovalli Train

Route: Locarno- Domodossola with connections to Brig/Montreux and Spiez/Thun/Bern

The Centovalli Train (hundred valleys) departs Locarno and underground to the outskirts of Locarno for an incredible journey along the Centovalli via the high point at Santa Maria Maggiore over the Italian boarder, along the Valle Vigezzo to Domodossola. The journey takes just under 2 hours past breath-taking gorges with crashing waterfalls, over spectacular bridges and passing through delightful villages. Vineyards also line the route which vary in style from the manicured vine hedges of the Swiss to the somewhat ramshackled family vineyards over the boarder in Italy. The finale of the journey offers spectacular views of the descent to Domodossola where the track winds down over 250m.
This journey is a delight and can be taken as a return day trip from Locarno, the Lake Maggiore Express day or as a connection for a two or multi centre holiday with Montreux or to Spiez/Thun via Brig and the Lötschberg Regio Express.
