Your holiday begins with 3 nights in Ascona where you can soak up the Mediterranean atmosphere of this delightful lakeside resort, with charming individual shops and galleries lining the attractive alleyways that give Ascona such appeal.
The Wilhelm Tell Express leaves from Locarno station just a short taxi drive from your hotel in Ascona. The start of this journey climbs up to the Gotthard tunnel to Flüelen where you board the paddle steamer to Weggis, a small village on Lake Lucerne which is in complete contrast to Ascona on the Italian lake of Maggiore.
During your 4 night stay we have included a visit to Mount Rigi, which is blessed with incredible 360° views of Switzerland, even though by Swiss standards this is not a high mountain at 1,800 metres. Whilst staying in Weggis a visit to Lucerne and its old town is just a short lake cruise away.
