The Lucerne Transport Museum is one of the most popular attractions in the country and an experience not to be missed. Here you can discover the history and future of transport by rail, road, water, air and space. More than 3000 objects are displayed in an area exceeding 20,000m² and many of the exhibits are interactive, delighting children and adults alike.

Museum & Arena
Museum Areas: The Museum is divided into distinct areas for Rail, Road, Air, Water and Cable Cars. You can climb aboard actual historic and modern vehicles for each area and in the Space area see life size recreations. There are interactive experiments & games and information in English throughout.
Media Factory: Experience a radio and TV studio, a news wall, a blue box and much more besides from the world of modern communication.
i-factory:  A fully interactive way for all ages to exploring information technology, including coding and plenty of games and quizzes.
Swissarena: Get a different perspective of the country as you walk across the 1:20,000 aerial photograph.
Traffic Garden: Children can drive around a training track in pedal carts and have fun learning about road signs and how to use a roundabout!
Road Construction Area: This unique play and learning platform uses interactive mini excavators, shovels and transporters spread over an area of 450m² of a road construction site.
Micro Scooters: Free to use for visitors to speed around the arena and get from one exhibition hall to another.
Restaurants: The Mercato Bar serves hot drinks and light snacks, while the self-service restaurant offers Swiss specialities, pizza, pasta and sandwiches. The Restaurant Piccard is a more leisurely experience. The Filmtheater Lounge is popular for a drink before your spellbinding cinematic experience.
Gift shop: Plenty of transport toys and books, and vast containers full of Swiss chocolates!


Other Attractions
Chocolate Adventure: A multimedia exhibition for all the senses, produced in conjunction with Lindt. Discover the history, production and transportation of delicious Swiss chocolate, from the cocoa grown in the rain forests to the end product in your hand (tasting is included!). Minimum age 6 years. English commentary. 
Planetarium: State-of-the-art technology conjures up an breathtaking starry sky on the 18m dome of the planetarium. You can also experience an unforgettable space walk from the comfort of your seat. Fascinating for the young and old.  
Film Theatre: The largest screen in Switzerland! Spend 40 minutes exploring the world of nature and engineering - examples 'To the Arctic' and 'Galapogas 3D' and 'Rocky Mountain Express'. There is also an evening programme showing current movies.


Directions

 

From Lucerne railway station it takes 8 minutes by train or 10 minutes by bus to the 'Verkehrshaus' stop. You can also take a cruise across the bay from Lucerne boat station to the 'Verkehrshaus-Lido' or walk 30 minutes along the lakeside promenade. The transport museum is open 10.00-18.00 in summer and 10.00-17.00 in winter.
